MOQ and sampling are two of the first questions professional buyers ask when sourcing OEM glass Christmas ornaments. For YH Christmas Decor, the starting rule is straightforward: standard MOQ is 500 pieces per design and per colour, and products are made to order rather than supplied from finished stock.
Important: the 500-piece rule below is YH's current standard MOQ, not a claim about the whole industry. Custom shapes, decoration, packaging or new product development can require separate feasibility or quantity confirmation.
What Does “500 Pieces per Design and per Colour” Mean?
When planning an assortment, quote each design and colour separately. A programme with several colours or several product designs should not assume that one combined total automatically satisfies the MOQ for every SKU. Send the planned quantity by design and colour so YH can review the actual order structure.
If you already have product references, include the YH product numbers from the product catalogue or the relevant product family.
Why YH Does Not Quote from a Generic “Bulk Quantity” Alone
Glass ornament projects can differ in shape, size, colour, surface finish, selected decoration and packaging. A useful quotation therefore needs more than a total unit count. The factory must know how the order is split and which requirements apply to each item.
For example, a round ornament using an existing reference may be a different review from a new special shape that requires mold work. Packaging can also change the project scope.
When Can the MOQ Need Separate Review?
- A new shape that requires separate manufacturing-feasibility or mold work
- Decoration or finishing requirements outside the normal confirmed product scope
- Packaging or assortment requirements that materially change the project
- New product development where the actual production setup needs to be evaluated
The correct approach is to send the real project details and let the factory confirm the applicable quantity, rather than assuming that every custom project follows the same production conditions.
How Samples Work Before Bulk Production
Where a sample is required, it is prepared for buyer evaluation before bulk production. Sample costs are charged according to the actual project requirements, and international courier costs are paid by the buyer. YH does not publish a universal sample price because the product, decoration, packaging and whether new mold work is involved can change the scope.
After the relevant requirements are confirmed, the sample can be used to evaluate the product against the agreed brief. Bulk production follows the confirmed specifications and, where applicable, the approved sample.
What should you check on a sample?
- Shape and size against the confirmed requirement
- Colour and surface finish against the buyer reference where applicable
- Selected decoration specified for the design
- Applicable accessories
- Packaging where the sample includes the agreed packaging scope
YH does not describe its glass ornaments as hand-blown or mouth-blown. Some designs may include selected hand-painted details during decoration, but that applies only where the specific design requires it.
Made to Order Means There Is No Ready-Stock Shortcut
YH holds no finished ready stock. That is important when comparing a factory with a wholesale stock seller: buyers should plan the product brief, applicable sample work, order confirmation and production rather than expect immediate shipment from finished inventory.
For this reason, “wholesale” should not be read as “ready stock” on the YH website. YH's model is specification-led OEM production for professional buyers.
How to Plan a First Order More Efficiently
- Start with fewer confirmed designs instead of spreading the order across many unconfirmed SKUs.
- State the quantity for each design and each colour.
- Use existing YH references where they fit the project and identify clearly when a new shape is required.
- Confirm packaging early if it affects the commercial scope.
- Use a sample where the project requires one, then freeze the approved requirements before bulk production.

Send the product reference, drawing or image; quantity by design and colour; required size; finish or decoration; packaging needs; destination market; and target timing. A complete brief makes it easier to distinguish a standard order from a project that needs separate feasibility review.
