If you want a useful quotation from an OEM glass Christmas ornament factory, start with a clear RFQ (request for quotation). The goal is not to write a long document. It is to give the supplier enough confirmed information to judge manufacturing feasibility, understand the scope, and tell you what still needs to be clarified before sampling or production.
YH RFQ quick checklist
- Product reference, drawing, photo or physical sample
- Shape and size
- Quantity per design and per colour
- Colour, finish and any selected decoration
- Packaging requirements and buyer artwork where applicable
- Destination market and target timing
- Whether an existing shape is acceptable or a new shape needs feasibility review
What Should Be in an OEM Glass Ornament RFQ?
A strong RFQ separates confirmed requirements from items that are still open. For YH Christmas Decor, the most useful starting point is a buyer-provided product reference, drawing, sample, artwork or selected catalogue item. YH is an OEM manufacturer; we manufacture against the buyer's confirmed brief and do not position ourselves as an ODM design studio.
1. Product reference, shape and size
Start with the product itself. If you are using an existing YH reference, include the product number. If you are developing a different shape, send a drawing, clear reference image or physical sample and the required dimensions. A new shape may require a separate manufacturing-feasibility and mold review.
Browse round glass ornaments and special-shaped glass ornaments if you want to start from an existing reference.
2. Quantity per design and per colour
Give the planned quantity for each design and each colour, not only the total programme quantity. YH's standard MOQ is 500 pieces per design and per colour. Custom shapes, decoration, packaging or new product development may require separate feasibility or quantity confirmation.
If you are still planning the assortment, our MOQ and sample guide explains how to structure a first discussion without assuming that every SKU can share one combined MOQ.
3. Colour, finish and decoration
Include a colour reference, swatch or approved target where possible. State the surface finish and any pattern, logo or decoration that is required. Some YH designs can include selected hand-painted details during decoration, but YH does not describe the glass forming process as hand-blown or mouth-blown.
A clear brief should distinguish the glass shape from the decorative treatment applied to the outside.
4. Packaging requirements
Tell the supplier how the product needs to be protected and presented: individual protection, inner box, gift box, assortment concept, labelling or export carton requirements. If retail artwork is required, provide the buyer artwork or confirmed packaging specification. YH manufactures packaging to the confirmed buyer requirements; we do not position ourselves as a full packaging-design service.
See Quality & Packaging for the current YH packaging scope.
5. Destination market, timing and documentation needs
State the destination market and the target timing for the project. Timing is confirmed only after the key specifications, quantity, applicable sample requirements, packaging and any new-mold work have been reviewed. Do not rely on a generic lead-time number before the project scope is clear.
If your market or retailer requires specific documentation, list that requirement in the RFQ so it can be checked early. Regulatory and documentation needs vary by destination and product classification. YH can discuss available raw-material documentation on a project basis; buyers should not assume whole-product certification unless it has been specifically confirmed for the project.
What YH Can Confirm After Reviewing Your RFQ
| RFQ item | What YH reviews |
|---|---|
| Existing product reference | Whether the selected reference fits the requested colour, finish, decoration and packaging brief |
| New shape | Manufacturing feasibility and whether new mold work is required |
| Quantity | Whether the project meets the standard MOQ or needs separate quantity review |
| Sample | Whether a sample is required and the actual sample/courier arrangement |
| Packaging | Whether the proposed protection and presentation can be produced to the confirmed buyer specification |
| Commercial scope | Quotation basis, payment terms and production planning after requirements are clarified |
What Happens After the Brief Is Clear?
- Feasibility review. YH checks the product, process, quantity and packaging scope.
- Clarification. Open technical or commercial details are confirmed with the buyer.
- Quotation. The quotation is based on the confirmed scope rather than a generic product description.
- Sample where required. Sample and international courier costs are charged according to actual project requirements; international courier is paid by the buyer.
- Order confirmation and production. Bulk production follows the confirmed specifications and, where applicable, the approved sample.
For regular orders, YH's stated payment terms are 30% deposit and 70% before shipment. For new mold or new product development, the stated terms are 50% deposit and 50% before shipment. YH's stated export basis is FOB Yantian, China.
Common RFQ Mistakes That Slow Down a Quote
- Sending only a total quantity without quantity by design and colour
- Using “custom” without a drawing, reference or sample that shows what needs to change
- Asking for a fixed price before size, finish, decoration and packaging are defined
- Leaving retail packaging until after the product quotation when packaging is part of the project scope
- Assuming a new shape is only a colour change when it may require new mold review
- Asking the factory to invent the full product concept when the project is intended to be OEM

FAQ
What is the minimum information needed for an RFQ?
Send a product reference, drawing, photo or sample; required size; quantity per design and colour; finish or decoration requirements; packaging requirements; destination market; and target timing. If some items are still open, label them as open rather than guessing.
Can I ask YH to create a product design for me?
YH's current service focus is OEM manufacturing. Buyers provide a drawing, sample, artwork or selected product reference, and YH reviews manufacturing feasibility against the confirmed brief. YH does not position itself as an ODM design service provider.
Should I include packaging in the first RFQ?
Yes, if packaging is part of the project. Include the required protection, inner box, gift box, assortment or labelling needs, plus buyer artwork where applicable, so the quotation can reflect the confirmed scope.
What if I need a completely new shape?
Send the drawing, sample or reference with dimensions. YH reviews manufacturing feasibility and whether new mold work is required. See the new mold and custom-shape guide.
Have a product reference, drawing or sample ready? Send your RFQ to YH Christmas Decor. We will review manufacturing feasibility and clarify the scope before quotation.
